For most modern GE models with a digital display, the recommended settings are 37°F for the fridge and 0°F for the freezer. To change this, press the “Warmer” or “Colder” pads on the control panel until the desired number is displayed. For older models with a dial (labeled 1–9), the setting “5” is typically the normal default.

On most control panels, press and hold the “Reset Water Filter” button for 3 seconds until the red light turns off or turns green. If your model does not have a dedicated reset button, press and hold the “Water” and “Ice” buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.
