For Learning & E Models (Ring): Press the ring to open the menu. Turn to Settings > Reset > All Settings. Confirm the reset.
For Nest Thermostat (Mirror/Touch): Open the Google Home App. Select your device > Settings (gear icon) > Remove Device. On the thermostat itself, remove the batteries for 5 minutes to fully clear it.
This usually means your system does not have a Common Wire (C-Wire), and the Nest battery is draining.
The Fix: You likely need to install a “Nest Power Connector” (C-Wire adapter) at your furnace, or pull a new wire. In the short term, pull the display off the wall and charge it via the Micro-USB port on the back for 2 hours.
- On the Screen: Press the ring (or tap the side bar) to bring up the menu. Go to Settings > Technical Info > Display. The model number is listed there (e.g., “Display-3.4”).
- Physical Unit: Pull the display off the wall base. Turn it over and look at the small text on the back of the puck near the QR code.
