This is a safety feature indicating the pot is overheating.
- The Cause: Usually insufficient liquid (water/broth) or food stuck to the bottom of the inner pot.
- The Fix: Press “Cancel” and switch the valve to Venting. Once the pin drops, open the lid, stir the food, scrape the bottom of the pot, and add more thin liquid. Do not force the lid open.
The silicone sealing ring is a critical safety device. Instant Brands recommends replacing it every 12 to 18 months, or immediately if you notice cracking, deformation, or if the pot refuses to build pressure (steam leaking from the sides).
