If the motor runs for a second, stops, runs, and stops—this is not a broken motor. It is a safety feature indicating a blockage.
The Fix:
- Wash the filter (let it dry for 24 hours).
- Check the wand and the cleaner head for clogged debris.
- Check the flapper valve inside the bin inlet.

Dyson recommends washing the filter(s) with cold water once a month.
Important: You must let the filter air dry completely for 24 hours before putting it back. Using a wet filter can destroy the motor.

- Cordless (V-Series): Remove the wand. The sticker is usually located behind the clear dust bin (you may need to remove the bin to read it) or on the underside of the battery.
- Uprights (Ball): Look on the back of the machine behind the clear bin handle.
